Never leave children unattended in cars

A one-year old Emirati girl has been found dead in the car after her parents left her in the parked car under the sun. The parents currently are facing post-traumatic stress in Abu Dhabi. This incident happened on Thursday and the cause of death is believed to be suffocation and heat fatigue.

The Government urges inhabitants not to leave their pets and children in the car with the AC switched off as the heat inside the car has no outlet and the difference of temperatures outside and inside the car can be as much as 20 degree Celsius. For example, if the temperature outside is 20 degrees then the temperature inside the car can rise up to 40 degrees – 20 degrees is winters in UAE. In summers, the outside temperature itself rises up to 50 degrees so the internal temperature can touch 70 degrees. Looking at human body, the heat stroke is suffered when the body temperature reaches 40 degrees and it can be lethal at 42 degrees Celsius. In short, keeping your child in a parked car without AC for half an hour can prove fatal. We urge people to take care of their infants in this summer heat.
