The Volkswagen Group inaugurated its brand new regional headquarters in Doha, Qatar. We told you earlier that Volkswagen was testing waters of coming to Qatar with a pop-up store at Doha Festival City. At the store, VW representatives were present to tell prospective buyers about the VW lineup.

Now, the German giant has fully entered Qatar with a new business entity named Volkswagen Group Middle-East QFZ LLC (VWGME). Former Director for West Europe at AUDI, Benoit Tiers, has been appointed as the Regional Chief Executive Officer for Volkswagen Group Middle East.

Benoi along with his VW Team will be looking after all business functions in the region including strategy, finance, human resources, information technology, procurement and legal operations. The new entity will be taking care of all the activities of the VW Group in the Middle East region.

Qatar and Volkswagen are a match made in heaven as the company’s strategy towards promoting sustainable and eco-friendly mobility by 2030 goes hand-in-hand with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management, Volkswagen AG, said, “The Volkswagen Group has a long history in the region and a strong relationship with the State of Qatar. The opening today is a symbol of our long-term commitment and dedication to develop this partnership. Doha will become the center of all VW Group activities in the Middle-East. This new company will ensure all typical headquarters functions, we know that there is significant room for growth and we want to tackle that potential.”
