Nissan has made a promise to have made an autonomous car by the year 2020. Nissan’s move is a part of its aim to reduce accidents involving its cars to a rate of almost zero, which a lot of other car brands are targeting too, including Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, who are hoping to achieve this through self-driving cars.

Nissan wants to offer 100 percent autonomous cars for all, including elderly people and people with disabilities.

Nissan has been making intensive researches on this kind of technology for years, with the help of teams from top universities in the world, including Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Oxford and University of Tokyo.

And all this is possible, as there already cars with autonomous capability like the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class that is able to drive in traffic and on highways autonomously.
