The world’s carmakers have been working away at making their respective production and supply chain as green and ecologically conscious as possible. Many of us are keenly aware about the environmental impact that the auto industry can have, so it makes perfect sense for companies to make the move towards a more sustainable model into manufacturing of vehicles.

One of the forerunners that has been making noise in its green movement is Nissan, with its Ambition 2030 vision. In its recently published Sustainability Report, the Japanese auto major reinforced its commitment towards a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world where it is aiming to meet certain environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.

Nissan’s ESG plan encapsulates the automaker’s aim to bring down its entire carbon footprint. The company plans to achieve this throughout its whole value chain by coming together with several sectors, communities and governments. Furthermore, with the help of safe energy management solutions, Nissan is promising to reduce its overall emissions while also empowering societies by expanding into the field of renewable energy. By following these steps, Nissan aims to become the first Japanese automaker to become part of the ‘Race to Zero’ campaign that’s backed by the United Nations.

Speaking about the whole deal was Nissan’s chief sustainability officer, Joji Tagawa. In his statement, Tagawa said, “Nissan is determined to be a truly sustainable company, which is central to the trust placed in us by all stakeholders. Our progress and achievements from the past year emphasize how sustainability lies at the heart of our purpose-led growth strategy, and how long-term value creation is driven at the intersection of innovation and sustainability. We will further strengthen our efforts to address the key issues we have identified.”

Progressive car brands have been banging on about going carbon neutral – Nissan is taking a shot at the same. The brand will supposedly make this happen not only by launching electrified avatars of its cars but also by cutting down on its overall emissions as a company. According to Tagawa, Nissan should be achieving its vision somewhere in the early-2030s. Vehicle safety is one of the top-most priorities for Nissan as well. The company is focusing on this subject as it concentrates on researching & developing state-of-the-art technologies to make its car models safer.

Speaking of which, Nissan’s EV ecosystem will get a further boost with exciting initiatives such as 4R and Blue Switch. The marque is also working on improving battery technology as this will be crucial to its EV plans in the coming future. At the same time, Nissan has realized that safe and reliable (plus inclusive) mobility solutions are what will attract customers no matter the segment. The other aspects of focus here will also include vital components such as corporate culture that encourages respect for human rights along with a boost to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

In order to achieve all of this, Nissan will be working on modeling a sustainable framework when it comes to finance as well. This move will see the company setting out on a fundraising campaign to support its promise on environmentally-friendly product development, technologies, and new mobility services as part of its Ambition 2030 vision. Eventually, Nissan will be one of many automakers to offer a wide range of sustainable mobility solutions all across the globe.
