Nissan Semi-Autonomous certified for roads

Nissan has a goal of having an autonomous car in production by 2020, and in order to meet that goal, Nissan has to test its technology in the real world of driving conditions. They have finally received a legal license plate that allows them to test their semi-autonomous driver assist systems in Japan, which is the first time this kind of technology is tested on the roads of that country. And, by the way, the license plate number is 2020.

This prototype, Nissan Leaf, is not fully autonomous, but it will test various components of a self-driving car including exiting from highways, changing lanes when needed, ability to stay in its lane, overtaking stopped or slow traffic and stopping at red lights.

Go ahead and watch the video and have a look at the pictures.
