Supermini fans all over the world have been drooling on the Renault 5 EV. Now Nissan is here to take some of the attention with the all-new Micra EV.

The electric Micra will share the CMF-BEV platform with the upcoming Renault 5. While these cars are grabbing all the headlines it is worth noting that the platform will be launched in 2024 and Nissan and Renault tell us that it enables the cars to have a 250-mile range battery pack. We’re told that the platform will also decrease costs by 10%. Impressive.

“This all-new model will be designed by Nissan and engineered and manufactured by Renault using our new common platform, maximizing the use of our Alliance assets while maintaining its Nissan-ness,” said Nissan Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta.

But that’s not all: the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance will be investing a whopping €23 billion in EV tech going by their 2030 roadmap. As a result of the monumental investment, the alliance will be building four more platforms.

The other four platforms along with the CMF-BEV platform will be underpinning 35 new cars coming from the three companies by 2030.
