With its price to performance ratio, the Korean 2017 Hyundai Accent is one of the top among subcompact automobiles. Starting out in 1995, the Hyundai Accent (check prices and trim levels)has been tagged as one of the lowest priced cars. The 2017 version belongs to the fourth generation of Accents starting from the 2012 model. The current lineup adds a Value Edition having several new and upgraded features.

Exterior

The 2017 Hyundai Accent offers either a 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback version. Its measurements at 4.37 meters in length, 1.7 meters in width, and 1.45 meters in height gives enough space for 5 people. Interior

The Accent excels in terms of its spacious interior providing generous head and legroom for its riders with its height-adjustable front seats. Storage space is also abundant with its good-sized glove box and trays for other items and gadgets. Although lacking in leather, this model has good quality plastic-grained interiors. The fabric seats are also well-cushioned. The Accent is a 5-seater, but two people at the back is the most that can make the ride most comfortable.

Features

Crash tests conclude that this model is poor to average, mostly lacking in frontal safety despite its six airbags, safety brakes, and stability control. Both value editions of the sedan and hatchback versions of the 2017 Hyundai Accent come with 6-speed automatic transmissions. Basic features include air condition, keyless entry, adjustable seats, music player and driver armrest. The hatchback has the most features that include a blind spot viewer, audio and cruise controls, and upgraded steering wheel and interiors. But good luck if you find one in Saudi Arabia.

Specs

Having a 1.6-liter 4 cylinder engine, the 2017 Hyundai Accent produces 122 horsepower and a torque of 156 Nm. This front-wheel- drive vehicle can accelerate at 11.4 seconds to 100 km/h and build up speeds of up to 184 km/h, making it stand out in its class. Using up only 6.4 L/100 km of petrol, the Accent is very economical. The brakes and steering are somewhat average, but the ease of use and handling are excellent. The Hyundai Accent is also one of the most silent cars to ride in, with the exception of bumpy road drives, which is considered normal for its wheelbase height.

Verdict

At only SR50,700 to SR57,200, the 2017 Hyundai Accent is a good value subcompact with all the basic features you are looking for and more. It's elegant yet simple style and smooth, quiet, and efficient performance makes it a good choice compared to others in its class.
