Due to new parking permits issued by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai will allow free parking for people with special needs anywhere in Dubai.

“People with special needs travel with different people like brothers, fathers etc. and they suffered earlier because permits used to be restricted with one vehicle only, with the new system they can use the permit with any car. The permit just has to be placed on the dashboard of the car used,” said Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Driver Licensing at RTA.

Also, elderly citizens can park anywhere in Dubai for free, except for the slots for people with special needs.

There are 7 categories for the permits; people with permanent disability, temporary injury, people with certain diseases, elderly citizens, special needs centres and institutions as well as tourist buses.

“Any tourist who has injured himself and can drive is also eligible for the permit,” said Al Marzouqi.
