French automaker, Peugeot has announced the launch of its first plug-in hybrid model in the UAE. The 3008 PHEV combines the best of both worlds, the familiarity of an internal combustion engine (ICE) with the eco-friendly power of an electric motor.

Rakesh Nair, Managing Director for European Brands at Stellantis ME, said: “This is a huge step into the EV industry for Peugeot in the region, and will prove to be very successful in the coming years. With the addition of the new 3008 PHEV, we show our customers the commitment we have towards making the planet a safer and cleaner place. With the 3008 PHEV, we have a model that further enriches and highlights our ambition for the region. We are excited to bolster our line-up by putting together ultra-modern styling, maximum comfort, and our signature cutting-edge technology, all in a PHEV for our customers in the GCC.”

The new 3008 PHEV follows the brand’s design language and offers a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that produces 200 horsepower. Along with this, a total of 300 Nm of torque is pushed through an 8-speed automatic transmission to all four corners. Charging the battery is a relatively easy process with estimates standing at approximately 3 hours for a full charge at public EV charging points.

Putting the latest technology at the driver’s fingertips, Peugeot’s innovative iCockpit® system includes a compact steering wheel for better handling and grip, a 10-inch HD touch screen, as well as a digital head-up display. An impressive array of equipment and driving aids include Active Safety Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Active Parking with Assisted Steering.
