Porsche 718 Boxster 2017 vs Audi TTS 2017 Comparison

Posted by on Nov 12, 2017

Drop-tops can be considered a niche market that is reserved for high-end customers. Thus, these customers are pretty hard to please. This time, we take a look at two magnificent models, the Porsche 718 Boxster and Audi TTS. These sports cars are true champions in terms of performance, styling, and driving experience. And through the years, Porsche and Audi have made a huge impact on this segment.

Exterior

The Porsche Boxster can be considered an icon in the 2-seater convertible segment and this new one is the result of perfecting the tried and tested shape. The 718 Boxster is sleeker, more aggressive, and tauter than ever. Apart from the LED DRLs and taillights, sharper front end, and newly designed rear, the recognizable shape remains.  Audi also went aggressive with the TTS’ styling, with sharper headlights and taillights, a sculpted hood, and a more raked windshield.

Interior

Both cars are comfortable in terms of steering wheel adjustments and the seats. The Boxster offers several centimeters more leg room with a low-slung driving position for more authentic feel of sports car. Both cars use quality components inside, but the Audi looks and feels more premium. The dashboard is easy to use with only a few buttons and more logical setup compared to the seemingly outdated styling of the Porsche.

Performance

The Boxster is equipped with 2-liter engine that generates 300 horsepower with 380Nm of torque going to the rear wheels. 0-100km/h takes 4.9 seconds and the top speed is pegged at 275 km/h. Not to be outdone, Audi responds with a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo with 286 hp and 380 Nm of torque to all 4 wheels. This brings down its 0-100km/h sprint to 4.7 seconds but runs out of steam at 250 km/h. Both cars sport massive brakes, which they definitely need.

Verdict

The Audi TTS is available with an AED 248,600 price tag. That is worthy to spend if you’re after the performance and overall styling of a sports car. The 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster is available for AED 234,900. These cars may be expensive since they are in the luxury sports car segment, but they deliver speed and driving dynamics on the highways of UAE without a doubt. Calling out a winner for these two great cars can be a tough one. However, think of it this way; if you want a pure drivers’ car with classic genes, get the Porsche. On the other hand, if you want something a bit different with a lot of technology that enhances driving feel, go with the Audi TTS.
