Porsche unveils one-of-a-kind 911 Sally Carrera Edition

If you call yourself a petrolhead and haven’t watched Pixar’s Cars movie, then you are not a petrolhead. The first thing that children and even adults want to do when they get into motoring love is watch the legendary movie with racer Lightning McQueen (what a name!) as the main protagonist.

Now, Porsche has revived one of the movie’s main characters in Sally, McQueen’s friend, as the car was based on a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. To bring the character to life it has given a one-of-a-kind special edition: the 911 Sally Carrera Edition.

This special edition is based on a Porsche 911 GTS and has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat six that produces 473 horsepower and 569 Newton-meters of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed manual gearbox.

One of the main attractions of the Sally Carrera edition are its turbo wheels which measure 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the back. They echo the iconic wheels found in 996-gen 911s.

The special 911 also has Sally’s unique Sally Blue Metallic and with the spoiler deployed, it shows off the Sally's pinstripe tattoo which many might not even have noticed while watching the film.

A lot of attention to detail can be seen in the interior as well with the cloth trim featuring a plaid pattern and blue highlights on the seats and door panels. Some more details are present which one might not even spot like a small drawing of the character on the passenger’s dashboard, a badge on the B-pillar sporting Sally Carrera's signature and, of course, a special "Kachow! Mode" which one can select via the drive mode selector on the steering wheel.

This one-of-a-kind 911 will go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s auction at the Monterey Car Week in California and come with a matching watch, a car cover, a second set of wheels and drawing book from Cars production designer Bob Pauley.
