Volvo’s new C40 Recharge is a very important car for the Swedish brand. Built on the company’s CMA vehicle platform, this is the first pure electric Volvo and it gives us a slight glimpse into future Volvos. Volvo is pushing towards electrification as it aims for 50 per cent of its global sales volume to consist of fully electric cars and the rest will be all hybrids, not internal combustion engined cars. Furthermore, it aims to become a fully electric brand by 2030.

To give UAE a glimpse into Volvo’s future, Al Futtaim’s Trading Enterprise, the official distributor of Volvo Cars in the UAE, showcased the C40 Recharge. Prospective buyers were able to see the new fascia of the car, sloping roofline and state-of-the-art headlights with pixel-technology.

Inside also the C40 Recharge marks a company first as it is the first Volvo model to be completely leather-free. Along with that, Volvo will also offer buyers a whole host of colour options for the interior of the C40 Recharge. The C40 Recharge also has lots of connectivity features with an infotainment system jointly developed with Google and based on the Android operating system featuring Google apps and services.

Talking about the electric motors, the C40 Recharge has two motors - one at the front axle and the other one at the back. The two motors are powered by a 78kWh battery that can be fast charged to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes.
