Reckless driver shoots police to avoid being chased in Al Ain

A young man who was driving recklessly has passed away following injuries succumbed in a high-speed chase that took place at 5:00 AM on Monday morning. When the police signaled to the youth to stop the car, he refused to follow instructions and sped up further to try and avoid being caught.

In accordance with safety rules and to stop the youth from driving recklessly, the Abu Dhabi patrol fired two shots in the air but were stunned to discover the youth firing back and continue speeding. When the young man’s vehicle collided with one of the patrol vehicles, it overturned and caused him severe injuries.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, the youth succumbed to his injuries and passed away the following morning. Abu Dhabi Police have not disclosed the name nor nationality of the youth and have not disclosed what type of weapon he was carrying.

“The Abu Dhabi Police expressed its deep regret for the unfortunate incident, expressing its deepest condolences and sincere concerns to the family of the deceased,” an official statement said. Meanwhile, police forces from across the county have called upon families and communities to reduce the recklessness of young people on the roads to protect their lives and the lives of others.
