The Renault Talisman is a D-segment offering that was added to the French manufacturer’s line-up in 2015, and rivals the likes of the Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry. The Talisman, however, is equipped with something both its rivals lack: a head-turning exterior.

Measuring 4,850mm long and with a wheelbase of 2,810mm, the Talisman’s short overhangs and sculpted bodywork exude elegance. The prominent chrome grille with the protruding Renault logo, adds character to the long, creased hood and compliments the muscular wheel arches.

Laurens van den Acker - Senior Vice President of Corporate Design said: “At Renault, we design our models by observing the lives of our customers. In the case of the TALISMAN, the result is a large, sleek saloon car with an assertive, status- enhancing stance.”

Within the cabin, the Talisman offers generous front and rear head room, with 902mm and 854mm between the seat cushion and the roof at the front and rear respectively. Rear knee room, is also mighty impressive at 262mm – a number that effortlessly catapults the Talisman to one of the most generous in its class.

The seatbacks, manufactured by Renault and Faurecia, incorporate a new Cover Carving Technology which frees up to 3cm of knee room and sheds weight by 1kg as opposed to a regular plastic seatback shell. Adjustments are also aplenty, with a 10-way seat and a 6-way headrest.

Equipped with the Energy TCe 200 EDC7 engine, the Talisman which will be making its way to the UAE in the coming months, will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine which produces 190 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed transmission, it will sip just 5.88 liters of gasoline for every 100 kilometers.

Judging by the Talisman, it is fair to say that the French manufacturer has a stellar offering to rival the Japanese.
