Rolls Royce Black Badge Experience in Abu Dhabi

Posted by Angela Rodrigues on Apr 29, 2019

Luxury cars are aplenty, but Rolls-Royces are a few. They are arguably the pinnacle of luxury in the automotive world and as is the norm in that marketspace, exclusivity is the name of the game. The unique Black Badge editions created by the British automotive marque raise the bar higher and offer its clientele the luxury and uniqueness they tend to be in search of.

A common mistake is assuming the Black Badge editions are black colored Rolls-Royce motorcars, but that isn’t the case. In fact, the Black Badge models are distinguished by subtle details such as a black Spirit of Ecstasy emblem, black chrome details surrounding the signature grille, and a black background to the logo besides the wheels as opposed to silver in standard models.

To experience these beauties firsthand, we were invited to a track day event at Yas Marina Circuit and I know what you’re thinking, so let me just put it out there and say I was just as surprised. Despite the track not being Rolls-Royce home turf, I will say that they handled well, are extremely dynamic and performance oriented.

Walking into the Yas Marina Circuit, we were welcomed with neon light aesthetics and a display of the Black Badge fleet consisting of the Dawn, Wraith and the Ghost. I could barely contain my excitement to drive them all on track.

The intention of testing these magnificent cars was to understand their dynamics and versatility, not to race with them, which I absolutely adored with the Wraith Black Badge.  Talking about the cars on track, my first car to test was the Ghost Black Badge which personally was a wee bit difficult to handle on corners considering it’s a larger sedan and quite heavy. But, the second car, the Wraith Black Badge simply blew me away. The growling engine, the roaring exhaust, the torque, the power and the performance, had me walk out of the car with smile stretching from one ear to the other.

Again, a reminder, these cars aren’t meant for track yet to see them perform to those standards was truly remarkable.
