RTA introduces parking reservation system in Dubai Marina and Media City

Posted by Zaran Tarapore on Oct 15, 2018

To ease the hassles of motorists in and around the Dubai Marina and Media City areas, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a parking reservation system on its Android smartphone application. Helping commuters save time and fuel, the system is currently being tested in two of Dubai’s busiest areas with six reserved slots in each locality and the objective of launching on iOS devices within the next ten days.

To avail the service, motorists must log onto the RTA Dubai mobile app and access the ‘Parking Services’ tab, after which they will be taken to an interactive map that displays the available parking slots in both areas. Tariffs for this service are AED 10 per hour, with every additional hour costing an extra AED 10. Users of the app will have to ensure that they have an account with RTA and enough balance to pay for this service.

Osama Al Safi, Director of Parking at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said: “Users of the app know that the vehicle details are already stored in the app, which will be used to book a slot in the zone required. Misuse of the slots or parking at the spaces reserved for this service without paying will attract a fine of Dh1,000”.
