SAIC teases hybrid pickup truck as Maxus V

Chinese automaker SAIC has teased a new hybrid/all-electric pick-up truck that it will be launching through its Maxus division that builds pick-up trucks and SUVs. Although details are sparse, it is claimed that the pick-up truck has been referred to as the Maxus V on social media in China and that it will be revealed in the second half of 2020, working as a successor to the T60 pick-up in the brand’s line-up.

In line with the brand’s mission to launch 20 new energy models by 2025, one big possibility is that the Maxus V will share its electric powertrain with the Euniq 6, which has an electric motor with 174 hp and 310 Nm of torque. From a styling standpoint, the Maxus V has far more presence than the T60 pick-up it could replace with large badging in the front and a pair of slim LED headlights. The sides are embellished with flared wheel arches and slim wing mirrors, all of which compliment the narrow window line and thick C-pillars.

Stay tuned to learn more about this Chinese pick-up truck that could revolutionize the segment.
