Saudi Arabia promoted itself in Detroit as an automotive hub for the Middle East and a distribution gateway for North Africa.

A conference will be on June 26, hosted by the US-Saudi Arabian Business Council to introduce OEMs, suppliers and aftermarket providers to sales, technical, joint ventures and investment opportunities in expanding the automotive Saudi market.

"There are lots of opportunities for US companies in the Saudi market ," said Edward Burton, CEO and President of the Business Council, "and this program is just the beginning of what we expect will be a long term program of ongoing activity between Detroit and Saudi Arabia."

Saudi Arabia's new vehicle sales have been rising, up to 18 percent in 2012 over the year before that, to more than 700,000 units, according to Business Monitor International.

As reported by Saudi Gazette.
