Say Hello To Thunderbolt

Posted by James Fallon on Mar 30, 2014

Henrik Fisker has revealed his new design study at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance - the wonderfully named ‘Thunderbolt’.

Based on an Aston Martin Vanquish (See prices and specs of Vanquish here), the Thunderbolt has unique hand-laid carbon-fibre bodywork, Fisker’s trademark design cues such as a crease-free side profile, a more aggressive stance from the 15mm drop in ride height and larger, 21-inch alloy wheels. It’s still unmistakably an Aston Martin; the profile is the same as the original car and the smooth, elegant style remains, the tweaks just offer a more modern take on the classic Aston design.

Thankfully, the sonorous 6.0-litre V12 remains nestled in the engine bay and the other major changes are limited to the interior, which now features an 11.6 inch curved Panasonic touchscreen, a Maurice Lacroix skeleton chronograph embedded into the centre console and a champagne/wine bottle holder. The leather surfaces are courtesy of Italian furniture manufacturer, Natuzzi.

Though this design study is not affiliated with Aston Martin, initial response to the study means an extremely limited number of cars may be produced on a special order basis, though it would be likely that the Panasonic screen would not feature and the design of the front may differ slightly to the one in the images.
