Sharjah Municipality has introduced new paid parking zones to improve the accessibility of parking in the Muwaileh district of Sharjah. The team responsible for this move raised awareness by distributing brochures stating that parking fees would be applicable in the coming days.

Ahmed Ali Abu Gasen, Director General of parking section at Sharjah Municipality, said: “Following the decision to implement paid parking zones in certain areas of Sharjah, we have installed 37 payment machines and 150 notice boards for easy access in and around the area.”

This move aims to provide easy parking for visitors and residents, by preventing certain companies from misusing parking areas. It has been noticed that numerous individuals were also leaving vehicles parked for extended periods of time, affecting the business of many outlets in the area.

In addition to simpler SMS parking options, Sharjah Municipality also offers motorists the opportunity to purchase 3-months, 6-months, or annual parking cards/stickers. Parking tariffs are AED 2 for 1 hour, AED 5 for 2 hours, AED 8 for 3 hours, and AED 11 for 4 hours – these charges exclude the addition AED 0.30 per SMS.
