Sharjah Police stealing cars for awareness

Sharjah Police started an unusual campaign called “Stolen for the Sake of Awareness”. What they do is if they see a motorist left their car working and unattended, they get into the car and drive it away to a nearby spot as if it got stolen. When the owner of the car comes out they video the frantic reactions of the owner and then show it to them, making them realize that they should never keep the car unattended and working even if it is just for a few minutes.

This awareness campaign will make motorists realize how horrible it would be if it was real, and would give car thieves less cars to steal.

Ahmed Hammad, director of media awareness at Sharjah Police, said “The victims of these thefts had mostly left everything in the car from mobile phones to laptops, money and sometimes even their children.”

As reported by the National newspaper.
