The 1307 horsepower Milan Red is a stunning Austrian hypercar

The world of hypercars is one of obscene wealth, insane power figures, and stratospheric price tags. The term “hypercar” is only given to a chosen few, such as the Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg Regera, and the venerable Mclaren F1. However, we now seem to have a new competitor in this realm of power, and it is called the Milan Red.

Brought into life by a small (mostly unheard of) company in Austria, the Milan Red is one impressive piece of kit. This hypercar not only looks like an aggressive bird of prey but is in fact named after one, too. Called the Milan, it is an elegant yet effective bird of prey that uses speed and skill to hunt its prey. Similar to its namesake, the Milan Red is skillfully put together to go as fast as physics and engineering will allow.

Its makers claim that the Milan Red is capable of achieving a top speed of over 400 km/h, putting it within an earshot of the Bugatti Chiron. Furthermore, this Austrian hypercar almost eclipses the Chiron in terms of its 0-100 km/h time. While the Milan Red requires about 2.5 seconds to hit the ton, the Chiron does the same feat a tenth quicker at 2.4 seconds. However, from here on out, the 1,300 kg Milan Red almost annihilates the heavier Bugatti. For example, the Chiron takes 6.5 seconds to hit 200 km/h, and a (relatively) gingerly 13.6 seconds to reach 300 km/h. Not bad at all, but leagues behind the claimed figures of the new boy.

After dusting off the 0-100 km/h run, the Milan Red will continue to rocket towards the horizon and speed past any Chiron nearby. After just 5.4 seconds on the stopwatch, the Milan will have gone through 200 km/h, and in under 10 seconds, you will be north of 300 km/h. Now those figures are mighty impressive, and well over the top speed of its avian namesake. Of course, the powertrain is one major factor behind making these kinds of speeds possible.

Nestled safely behind the passenger compartment of the Milan Red is its engine – a quad-turbo V8 displacing 6.2 liters. This beastly motor puts out an incredible 1,307 HP and 1,400 Nm of torque! Unlike the Chiron however, all of this might is sent to the rear wheels only via a 7-speed dual-clutch tranny. To keep it planted at insane speeds, the Milan Red uses clever aerodynamics. These come in the form of high downforce diffusers, front wing with integrated splitting surfaces, and an electronically-actuated rear wing that doubles up as an air brake.

If you are interested, better hurry up as Milan will only produce 99 examples of the Red, and 18 of which have already found their owners. As for its price, the Milan Red comes in at just over 2.3 million dollars.
