The all new BMW i3 revealed

Posted by Samar Huneidi on Sep 16, 2013

The BMW i3 officially debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show and will be hitting showrooms early next year, priced from $42,275.

At the rear of the car, you can find and “i3” badge and a “eDrive” badge, that signifies that this is an electric car, even though it is available with a gasoline range-extender.

The i3 should cover between 80 to 100 miles, but range-extended models can drive up to 180 miles using fuel from a 2.4 gallon tank plus a full charge of the car’s 22 Kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery.

Most of the i3’s body is composed of lightweight composite materials, such as reinforced carbon fiber plastic and its chassis is composed of aluminum and magnesium, which makes it the first mass-produced car with such attributes.

Have a look at the pictures.
