The Koenigsegg CC850 is a 1,300+ horsepower hypercar with a manual gearbox

Koenigsegg has unveiled an all-new hypercar and well, you know the drill, bonkers looks and lots of power. But every now and then the Swedish hypercar maker is trying to twist things a little bit with the Gemera getting super saloon-like seats and, the latest car, getting a manual gearbox.

Meet the CC850 - the Koenigsegg that celebrates head honcho Christian von Koenigsegg’s 50th birthday. It’s quite closely related to a Jesko and shares the carbon fiber monocoque. On top of that, it also gets double wishbone suspension at the front and rear, adjustable damper and a special Triplex rear damper that reduces front-end lift during acceleration.

Now getting to the most juicy part of a Koenigsegg: the engine. The CC850 packs a twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 inherited from the Jesko but the powertrain is devoid of the flywheel. On regular fuel, the engine will thump out 1,169bhp and on E85, it’ll produce 1,363 horsepower and 1,020lb ft of torque. That’s plenty, right?

No performance figures have been revealed like the 0-62mph and top speed but hey, it’s a 1,300+ horsepower hypercar so ready your puny brains to be blown by the figures as and when they are released.

And finally we come to the manual gearbox. The CC850 will be a pure classic going by the fact it is one of the last fuel-guzzling hypercars, that too with a manual gearbox. It’s no normal box either, it’s the ‘Engage Shift System’ and has three modes: ‘normal’, ‘wet’ and ‘track’. The transmission has been fine tuned over the course of two years for “providing tailored experiences based on road or track use”.

There’s also the option of turning the gearbox into a nine-speed automatic but, you really won’t want to do that.

“The CC850 was not created to break Jesko’s track records or set new high watermarks for top speed, but to offer the highest level of driver satisfaction and enjoyment with the exhilarating performance for which Koenigsegg is renowned,” said Mr. Koenigsegg.

Only 50 will be made, we reckon they’re all sold out and the very first prototype will be going straight to Christian von Koengisegg’s garage.
