The Peugeot 308 R Sneak Peak

Posted by Samar Huneidi on Oct 2, 2013

Peugeot unveiled a high-performance concept car called the 308 R at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show last month. The concept featured the same four-cylinder engine that produces 270 horsepower that is found in the RCZ R coupe.

A 308 variant has been spotted testing, likely to be a new 308 GTI rather than 308 R.

"We will create specific high-line versions of our cars,” said Maxime Picat, Peugeot director general. “There is room for a 308 R that uses the same engine as the concept car at Frankfurt.”

Picat was referring to a turbocharges 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 464 Nm of torque.

The Peugeot 308 R will probably compete with the likes of Honda Civic Type R, Ford Focus RS and Volkswagen Golf R.
