Prodrive’s chairman David Richards says that the all-terrain supercar you see above is “the Ferrari of the desert” and he’s not wrong. Meet the Prodrive Hunter T1 - a 600 bhp, four-wheel drive all-terrain supercar that’s basically a Dakar rally car for the road.

The Hunter T1 is based on Sebastian Loeb’s Bahrain Raid Xtreme competition car which was the star of the show at the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. It is 4,600mm long and 2,300mm wide, 1,850mm tall and has a very aerodynamic body penned by British designer Ian Callum.

Powering the Hunter T1 is a 3.5-liter V6 engine from Ford which produces  600 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters of torque thanks to the fettling done by Prodrive. The Hunter T1 can do 0-62mph in less than four seconds and can do 300 km/h flat out.

The Hunter T1 sits on massive 35-inch off-road tires which are coupled with a double-wishbone suspension at the front and rear with 400 millimeters of travel. Inside you will find a six-speed, paddle-shift gearbox and harnessed instead of seatbelts.

The first owner of the Hunter T1 will be Bahrain's crown prince. Prodrive has said that it will be making 25 Hunter T1s and it will be dealing with customers directly and not via dealers.

David Richards, Prodirve Chairman, said: “There are numerous hypercars on the market, however they all need good roads or even race tracks to show their performance.

“We identified that in certain parts of the world, particularly the Middle East, there are vast expanses still to be explored that go way beyond the access provided by asphalt roads. Therefore why not create a vehicle that gives the opportunity to explore these regions with performance way beyond that offered by any off-road vehicle before.”
