The Rimac Nevera has broken the Guiness World Record in Reverse

Yes, you read that correctly. This is NOT a joke. The Rimac Nevera has become the fastest car in reverse. The Croatian hypercar achieved a top speed of 275.74km/h in reverse. Cars cannot achieve this going forward, let alone backwards.

Being an electric car, well electric time-machine we should say going by the speed it achieved in reverse, the Nevera has no gears. It has four individual motors capable of launching the car from 0-160 km/h in a mere 3.21 seconds and from 0-320 km/h in just under 11 seconds. 

The groundbreaking event took place at the Automotive Testing Papenburg facility in Germany, where the Nevera had previously shattered more than 20 acceleration and braking records in a single day and achieved a record-breaking top speed run of 412 km/h. Guinness World Records witnessed and evaluated the data of the record-breaking run of the Nevera using Dewesoft. Wow, just WOW.

Matija Renić Nevera Chief Program Engineer, Bugatti Rimac, said: “It occurred to us during development that Nevera would probably be the world’s fastest car in reverse, but we kind of laughed it off. The aerodynamics, cooling and stability hadn’t been engineered for traveling backwards at speed, after all. But then, we started to talk about how fun it would be to give it a shot. Our simulations showed that we could achieve well over 241 km/h, but we didn’t have much of an idea how stable it would be – we were entering uncharted territory.”

Customers can buy the Nevera from Rimac’s all-new showroom once it opens its doors in the first quarter of 2024.
