Inexplicable and mysterious to the common man, the thrill of speed is intertwined in the DNA of every petrolhead. Though frowned upon, the satisfaction of gut-crushing g-forces and vision-warping speeds are both thrilling and a nod to engineering marvels that are the Koenigsegg Regera, the Hennessey Venom GT, and the Bugatti Chiron.

Koenigsegg Regera

Following in the footsteps of the Porsche 918, the McLaren P1, and the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Regera adopts a hybrid drivetrain that uses both, a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 and three electric motors for a combined output of 1,500 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque. With a kerb weight of just 1,590 kilograms, the Swedish marvel accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.7-seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.6-seconds, and to 300 km/h in 10.9-seconds.

Engine: 5.0-liter Twin Turbo V8

Power: 1,500 HP & 2,000 Nm

Top Speed: 400 Km/h

Hennessey Venom GT

Based on popular British sports car, the Lotus Exige, the Hennessey Venom GT is arguably the most controversial vehicle on this list. Having recorded a top speed of 435.31 km/h on 14th February 2014, the American supercar surpassed the record held by the famed Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, but was rejected an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records due to its highly limited production run of just 16 units. Unfair? I surely think so…

Engine: 7.0-liter Twin Turbo V8

Power: 1,244 HP & 1,566 Nm

Top Speed: 435 Km/h

Bugatti Chiron

Successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron is developed and manufactured in Molsheim, France. Named after famous racing driver Louis Chiron, the main carryover from its predecessor is its 8-liter W16 quad-turbocharged engine that has been tweaked and tuned to generated 1,479 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque.

Power: 1,479 HP & 1,600 Nm

Top Speed: 463 Km/h
