Initially revealed at the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Zarooq SandRacer is a Middle Eastern supercar that can conquer the desert and a concept that is as strange as it is exciting. Following several mechanical and design improvements over the years, Zarooq Motors has confirmed that the first batch of track day, desert annihilating vehicles are ready for production.

Zarooq Motors’ take on supercars is a little different from the rest: “All supercars look fantastic but their common denominator is that they are suited to racetracks and certainly not designed for speed bumps. Zarooq Motors makes supercars that you can take to a weekend track day and a desert alike, even the toughest dunes of the Arabian Desert where they were born” says Mohammed Al Qadi, Zarooq Motors’ executive.

The SandRacer 500 GT is the first production model to flaunt the Zarooq insignia on its snout and is a carbon fiber masterpiece that features a 2-seater, rear-wheel drive, mid-engine layout and a hand-stitched interior by German tuner Mansory. Truly refined, the cabin is bedecked with a digital dashboard, automatic climate control, CarPlay compatibility, and bespoke Mansory carbon fiber seats and steering wheel.

“We have applied our design and craftsmanship knowhow as well as luxury materials which we usually use on vehicles like Rolls-Royces & Lamborghinis to give the SandRacer’s interior and body a distinctively superior touch”, says Christian Verstappen from Mansory Belgium.

Brutal performance is delivered by a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 525 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, equating to a power-to-weight ratio of 0.1984 HP per KG – far superior to vehicles such as the Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8. With two ride height settings, the SandRacer 500 GT is as capable off-road as it is on the tarmac with a racing chassis and built-in roll cage designed by Campos Racing Grand Prix engineers.

Sales of the first limited-edition series of 35 vehicles has started and is aimed at an exclusive clientele with a price tag starting at $450,000 (AED 1,653,000) in the UAE.
