UAE's 44th National Day is coming up and this brings a long 4-day weekend for the public.

With a long weekend to look forward to, why not plan a road trip! We have shortlisted the following top 5 road trips you can take this coming holiday weekend:

1. Salalah, Oman

A prime destination by road from UAE in the autumn season is Salalah. Even though, the prime monsoon season is no more at this time of the year, but, still, it is a nice long drive from Dubai to Salalah. So, this gives you the chance to explore Oman along the way too.

Distance from Dubai: 1200 km

Travel time: 15-17 hours

 

2. Jebel Hafeet, Al-Ain

The most famous mountain peak in UAE – Jebel Hafeet – is another hot spot for families during weekends. Located in Al Ain, the route is pretty straight forward and the views are picturesque while going left and right on the twisty roads that lead you up to the mountain. If you want to relax then there is Mubazzarah Park beside it for some family fun with a couple of restaurants to eat as well.

3. Kalba, Fujairah

For those of you who haven’t been to the eastern coast of UAE then Kalba is a place to go. Packed with cultural sites and serene beaches with mangroves, the city of Kalba is a nice weekend retreat – away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

4. Hatta Pools, Oman

For those of you with a flair for off-roading, located in our very own backyard, are Hatta Pools. Fresh water pools in the middle of Hatta Wadi, are the perfect spot for family barbecues and overnight camping. Also, if you are in mood for a quick dip then you are welcome to jump into these cool waters to flush that negative energy out of your body. Remember to keep passports with Oman Visa as Hatta Pools are part of Oman.

5. Musandam, Oman

Last but not least, there is Musandam peninsula – a destination for people to laze around in the dhow cruise and click pictures of the surrounding calm waters with occasional snorkeling and ofcourse, Dolphins! Yes, if you are lucky you might get to see dolphins swimming from place to place. If you love beaches then this is the place to go.
