Building on its reputation of providing environmentally-friendly vehicles to the citizens and residents of the UAE, Al Futtaim Toyota announced the launch of the all-new Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), offering individuals and corporations the opportunity to be part of the sustainable motoring movement in the UAE.

The Toyota Camry HEV was introduced in the UAE in 2008 in a limited quantity, to be tested by fleet operators in local weather conditions. Having surpassed all expectations and delivering sizeable savings over its petrol-powered counterparts, the car was officially introduced in 2012 and has since transported numerous commuters across the UAE.

Built on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the Camry Hybrid 2018 can be driven by electrical power with zero-fuel consumption and carbon emissions, or with a combination of the petrol engine and two electric motors depending on speed and driving behavior. The batteries are automatically charged by either the petrol engine or when braking and decelerating, eliminating the need to plug in a power cord.

Speaking at the launch, Suzan Kazzi, Head of Corporate Communications at Al-Futtaim Toyota said: “Camry HEV has been leading the sustainable mobility march since 2008, being the first marque that pioneered the HEV technology in the UAE. With 26KM/L, Camry HEV runs like the petrol engine Camry, except it drives more for less fuel and less CO2 emissions.”

Combining two power sources consisting of a 2.5-liter petrol engine and two electric motors, the hybrid electric drivetrain on the all-new Toyota Camry HEV produces 208 hp. The drivetrain is mated to an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (e-CVT) that executes smooth yet quick gear shifts, simulating a six-speed sequential shift transmission to deliver driver engagement.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid 2018 is available across all Al-Futtaim Toyota showrooms at a price of AED133,500 inclusive of VAT.
