The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a vehicle that is seen in abundance in and around the Middle East. Be it on the expansive highways or the picturesque dunes on the outskirts of the Emirates, the Fj Cruiser is an unmistakable sight and one whose lineage and fan base are both, long and strong.

Teased by Toyota and titled the FT-4X, the concept car in question could well be the successor to the legendary FJ Cruiser, or a potent 4x4, at the very least. Shrouded in mystery, the FT-4X dates to October 2016 when the Japanese marque trademarked the name in the United States of America.

Rife with speculation, enthusiastic off road forums claim that a replacement to the FJ would befit the next generation Jeep Wrangler and the upcoming Ford Bronco, with an aggressive design and increased ground clearance.

Wrapped around a chunky tri-tone wheel and tucked below a black fender, the teaser image hints at orange sheet metal and wheels that have been pushed to the extremities for improved handling and presumably a shorter overhang.

Until its unveil on the 12th of April, keep the guesses going as to whether the FT-4X could be the next FJ Cruiser or merely a rock-crawling compact SUV.
