Toyota Innova 2016 in detail

Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Apr 13, 2016

The all-new Toyota Innova 2016 was recently launched by Al-Futtaim Motors in the UAE (you can read more about the launch event here). This is a completely new Innova and has taken more than 10 years to enter its second generation – just like the Fortuner. The Innova is a name synonymous with being a people carrier – especially in organizations. We are yet to test the Innova for ourselves.

Coming to the car itself, the Innova is completely new inside and out. The exterior has been completely overhauled, and the new Innova is longer, wider and higher than before. Although, the wheelbase still remains the same. The exterior details include chrome plated moulding on the front grille, new headlamps and taillamps and new wheels. There are ‘aero stabilizing fins’ added to the rear combination lamps for stability.

The interior is where the Toyota Innova focusses the most. The new interior materials include silver and faux wood trimmings. The 4.2” TFT multi information display makes its debut in the Innova. Earlier it was launched in the Fortuner. The screen basically displays alerts, in-car navigation and eco-drive monitor among other things. The Innova can have seven or eight configurations. The seven-seat has two captain seats. There are seatback tables for the second-row passengers too. Other than that, there are connectivity ports, cruise control and all-new a/c unit.

The new Innova is powered by a 2.7 liter engine producing 164 BHP and 25.0 kg-m of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. For safety, the MPV features ABS/EBD, rear camera, pedestrian protection hood and airbags. Prices are from AED 92,900 to AED 102,900.
