Toyota Racing Development works its magic on the Prius

Posted by Zaran Tarapore on Dec 31, 2018

Following its appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) has released a host of parts for the facelifted Prius. Currently on sale in Japan, the TRD kit features an aggressive splitter, extended side skirts and a reworked rear bumper with a striking central diffuser. In addition, the Japanese brand’s customization wing also offers aerodynamic mirror caps, bold canards and dark accents for the front bumper. Other accessories include a dual exhaust system, TRD-branded bumper protector, and aluminum wheels ranging in sizes from 15- 18-inches.

Changes to the interior and under the hood are modest in comparison, with the former receiving a TRD-branded push-button starter, sunshade, and luggage box costing $81 (AED 300). On the performance front, TRD hasn’t tweaked the engine but they have enhanced the handling of the car with minor mods that comes in the form of motion control beams and a member brace set, that is expected to cost $543 (AED 1995). Those who wish to see this exquisite Prius in the flesh will have the opportunity to do so at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon.
