TVR Returns With Cosworth Engines And Help From Gordon Murray

The Mclaren F1 designer and motorsport legends Cosworth team up to reignite the quirky Brit sports car maker.

TVR’s last car rolled off the production line in 2006 and though there were various attempts to keep the company afloat, none were successful. In June 2013, a team of British businessmen under the name TVR Automotive bought the company and created a plan to revive the brand.

They recently announced that F1 designer Gordon Murray is on the team and they will be using his revolutionary iStream chassis technology mated to a Cosworth V8 (the only details are that it will be a dry-sumped V8 located in the front of the car).

The car will stay as true to TVR’s roots as possible so a manual gearbox will send the power from the naturally aspirated V8 to the rear wheels of the coupe/convertible. This means TVR plan to venture into dangerous territory; this segment of the market contains hugely accomplished cars such as the Porsche 911 & Jaguar F-Type and to be successful usually requires huge financial backing, but with the innovative design of Gordon Murray and the motorsport knowledge and engineering expertise of Cosworth leading the project, it’s safe to say that we can expect a car that will not only challenge the establishment, but could revolutionise the sports car segment.
