UAE Authorities Issue Fresh Warning On Dangers Of Buying Used Car Tires

UAE authorities have issued a fresh warning about the clear and present dangers of buying used car tires from dealers or individuals. The warnings come about after a host of online advertisements are trying to woo customers with ridiculously low prices.

The summer months are when most motorists tend to change their tires for a newer set to cope with the heat and second-hand sellers are well aware of this. They lure customers with prices that are nearly half those of new tires, with unsuspecting motorists falling prey and risking their lives in the process. As per the law, UAE authorities prohibit the sale of used tires on the grounds of motorist safety.

Jamal Al Amri, a traffic expert, warned that old tires should not be bought because they pose a great danger to motorists’ safety. A good quality tire promotes road safety, especially during the summer months.

Motorists caught driving with damaged or worn-out tires are liable to pay an AED 500 fine and are also given four black points. Moreover, motorists stand the risk of getting their vehicles impounded for a week if the condition of their tires is extremely bad.

The police remind drivers to regularly check their tires to ensure they are in good condition, as air pressure is prone to increase during extremely hot weather conditions.
