US Police Testing GPS Shooting Guns to Tag Cars During Car Chases

Posted by on Nov 3, 2013

US is infamous for high speed pursuits across highways. We see these chases on the news almost every day. Even though, we cheer for the police when they catch the offenders, we usually tend to overlook the risk involved in these car chases. These high speed cars are not only endangering themselves but also the other innocent civilians driving on the roads. So to curb these risks, the St. Petersberg Police Department are testing GPS shooting cannons. These are special guns mounted on the front of the police car and using air pressure, the GPS chip is shot which sticks to the vehicle being chased. In this way, the pursuit doesn’t need to be carried on and the offender can simply be traced via GPS. You can watch the demo below.
