Volvo’s new unveil the XC90 seems like a mixture of all the motoring goods put into one big package. The XC90 T8 has 400bhp and gives off 59g/km of CO2. This is the safest SUV in the world and gives off less CO2 than a regular car plus it will outrun most cars as well. "The XC90 is a plug-in electric car, hybrid and high-performance model rolled into one," explains Dr Peter Mertens, senior VP of Volvo's R&D department.

Under the hood is a 4-cylinder petrol engine up front, powered by both a supercharger and a turbocharger producing 318bhp and 295lb of torque, it is a front wheel drive.

On the rear an electric motor giving 82 bhp and 178lb of torque, the battery is placed somewhere in the middle of the car, it also includes a crankshaft-mounted starter generator.
