UAE Students Create Anti Car Theft Device

Posted by Samar Huneidi on Sep 21, 2014

A device called “fakh”, an Arabic word that means "trap", was invented by 3 students at the University of Al Ain for Science and Technology. This device helps prevent auto theft electronically. What it does is that it sends a text message to the owner of the car that was attacked. In addition, it sends the location of his/her car via "Google Maps" and can stop the car completely electronically as well.

When the device alerts the owner of the car, he/she can then send a "code" to the device which will stop the car and the thief will be locked inside without being able to turn it on again.

The students are Heba Dabbas, Rawan Abu Shamla and Hadeel Al Hameeda. The 3 ladies emphasized that the goal of their device is for community services and to help the police in the fight against auto theft. They also added that the device is simple and small and can be installed on all types of cars.
