Nissan's Operations in Spain: A Focus on the Barcelona Plant

قراءة المقال باللغة العربية

Introduction

Part of our trip to Spain for the launch of the Nissan Navara included an exciting and truly memorable trip to the manufacturer’s Barcelona plant. As home of Nissan’s European Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Business Unit, Nissan’s Spanish Operations comprise four different plants which are an integral part of the company’s presence in Europe.

Exploring the Barcelona Plant

The Barcelona plant features two different lines where passenger and commercial vehicles are produced, working in complete sync with the brand’s St Andrew’s plant, which manufactures frames for the vehicles. Additionally, the Cantabria plant collaborates with Renault, while the Avila plant focuses solely on truck manufacturing.

Future Outlook

Frank Torres, Managing Director at Nissan Motors Ibérica, stated: “It’s incredibly important to me to ensure that the Barcelona Plant remains competitive because this opens up new production opportunities, positively impacting employment numbers. In the coming years, the Barcelona Plant will operate at full capacity, targeting an annual output of over 200,000 units while maintaining its ability to produce new models. Given the recent crisis environment, this is a significant achievement for Nissan and the entire industry in this country."
