Audi R8 Spyder: Specifications and Features of the New Car
Tags:
Introduction
The New York Auto Show surprised attendees with the unveiling of the Audi R8 Spyder, although it was somewhat anticipated. Finally, the convertible version of this beautiful car has been revealed.
Technical Specifications
Engine
The Audi R8 Spyder will only be available with a V10 engine, while the coupe variant offers both V10 and V10 Plus. The V10 model features a 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 540 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. However, we hope to see the V10 Plus model in the future.
Car Performance
The V10 engine comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the Audi Quattro all-wheel-drive system. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe. The Audi Quattro system can direct all power to the front wheels if needed. There are four driving modes available in the Spyder, similar to the coupe.
Features
Roof
Among the features, the most notable is the roof. Audi has opted for a fabric roof to reduce the car's weight. The roof can open in 20 seconds and withstand speeds of up to 50 km/h. Personally, I would have preferred to see a metal roof like that found in Ferrari cars.
Interior Design
The interior resembles that of the coupe model. Control buttons are focused on the driver, most of which are located on the steering wheel. However, the coupe lacks a smartphone connectivity system, which is expected to be added by mid-year. The R8 Spyder is set to launch at the beginning of next year, and we anticipate its price will be higher than that of the coupe.
