Audi RS4 Avant Review: Luxury and Performance Combined

Audi RS4 Avant

The term "Avant" refers to Audi's take on the "station wagon." Upon receiving the Audi RS4, I felt it was a practical yet luxurious vehicle, perfect for business professionals looking to enjoy life after work. I was both right and wrong at the same time. This car is more than just a station wagon. The RS4 Avant has been updated after 12 years, and it was worth the wait. How so? Let’s find out.

Elegance

Audi RS4 Avant - Front Design

In terms of elegance, it ranks among the most beautiful cars in its class available on the market. Audi has made efforts to give it a sporty appearance, which is not an easy feat for a car in this category. The front grille, wheel arches, and the 20-inch alloy wheels (which surpass the 18-inch wheels of the BMW M3 Coupe and Mercedes CLS AMG) all contribute to the Avant's stylish and attractive look. The headlights feature xenon lights with LED daytime running lights, and they come equipped with a feature for controlling the beam range. The rear sports an RS bumper, RS rear brakes, and LED taillights. Additionally, there is an aluminum roof rack for added practicality.

Quality

Our vehicle came equipped with comfortable sports seats for four passengers. The sports seats are adjustable, making long journeys comfortable. It feels as if Audi designed the car to seamlessly transition from dropping the kids off at school to hitting the racetrack. The quality is high, as usual, especially the steering wheel and its stitching. The center console, gear shift, and dashboard all exude a luxurious appearance. I was impressed.

Interior Features and Options

Audi RS4 Avant Steering Wheel

What impressed me was not just the number of features, but their quality. For instance, the steering wheel is the most comfortable in its class. It is designed to allow your fingers to rest easily on the sides and is flat at the bottom. The center console is straightforward, with buttons placed conveniently. The radio, phone, and menu buttons are all neatly organized. Most importantly, it's the details, and Audi excelled in this vehicle!

Interior Space

Head and legroom in the front is good. The rear legroom is adequate, but it may not be comfortable for taller individuals. The trunk space measures 490 liters, which is more than the 40 liters of my Toyota Camry, enhancing its practicality. Furthermore, the rear seats can be folded down for additional space.

Driving Performance

Power and Acceleration

The power of the Avant is what elevates it beyond just a practical car. It boasts 450 horsepower from a 4.2 L V8 engine. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes less than 5 seconds. Comparing it to the Cadillac XTS V Sport that I also tested, which had 440 horsepower, I found it to be very fast. Now imagine the RS4 Avant, which is half the size of the Cadillac XTS, with 450 horsepower. The power delivery is incredible, and I did the right thing by buckling up. It was a thrilling experience!

Handling and Suspension

What I loved about the RS4 Avant is not just its power, but also my ability to adjust my driving style in several ways. It comes with three driving modes: Sport, Comfort, and Auto. However, there is another unique mode called Individual. In Individual mode, you can adjust the suspension, transmission, steering, and differential settings separately, allowing you to customize your driving experience. Personally, I enjoyed the Comfort setting for the suspension with Dynamic steering, Dynamic transmission, and Auto for the differential. Even the exhaust note changes with the driving modes. Set it to Comfort, and it sounds like a Nissan Tiida; switch it to Dynamic, and it roars like a lion. It turned heads everywhere because no one expected to hear such a sound from a car in this class.

Summary

This car competes with the price of the BMW M3 Coupe, but at 290,000 AED, it is a premium price for a vehicle in this category. From my experience, its drive was incredibly luxurious, surpassing that of bulky SUVs. The all-wheel drive, power, and driving modes all contributed to an exceptional driving experience. This car is for those who enjoy driving and want a vehicle that enhances their enjoyment. Additionally, it is practical for families, although the rear compartment is a bit tight. Overall, it is worth experiencing for anyone seeking the best.
