Sharjah Police Launches 'Be Careful When Crossing Traffic Lights' Campaign
Introduction
The Sharjah Police, in collaboration with the Traffic Patrol and the Public Relations and Media Department, has launched a campaign titled "Be Careful When Crossing Traffic Lights". This initiative aims to warn drivers about the dangers of running red traffic lights.
Campaign Details
This campaign is also part of the ministry's main traffic initiative "Summer Without Accidents".
Fines and Penalties
- Drivers caught running a red light will face a fine of 800 AED.
- The vehicle will be impounded for a period of 15 days.
- 8 black points will be recorded on the driver's license.
Official Statements
Major Abdul Rahman Khater, Head of the Traffic Awareness and Media Department, stated that various traffic signals are equipped with surveillance cameras to monitor and record violations of traffic rules, particularly cases of vehicles running red lights.
He also emphasized that running a red light is extremely dangerous and often results in fatal consequences.
