Free Parking Across Dubai
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced a generous initiative for the 2025 New Year holiday: free public parking across the city. This decision comes as part of efforts to facilitate seamless celebrations and reduce traffic congestion as residents and tourists flock to enjoy the festivities.
The free parking policy will apply from 6:00 PM on December 31, 2024, and will remain in effect until 11:59 PM on January 1, 2025. Parking zones across all commercial and residential areas are included, except for multi-level parking facilities.
Extended Public Transport Timings
To complement the free parking, the RTA has also extended the operational hours of Dubai's public transport network, ensuring uninterrupted service for revelers.
- Dubai Metro: Both the Red and Green lines will operate continuously from 5:00 AM on December 31 to 2:00 AM on January 2.
- Dubai Tram: The tram will also run extended hours, ensuring connectivity to key areas throughout the city.
- Public Buses: Select routes will see enhanced frequency to accommodate increased demand.
Why This Matters for Motorists and Visitors
Dubai's commitment to offering convenient mobility options during peak seasons reflects its position as a global tourism and lifestyle hub. For those planning to drive, the free parking initiative provides a cost-effective way to access prime locations, while the extended public transport timings offer a safe and eco-friendly alternative.
Popular spots such as the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina are expected to witness massive crowds. The extended transport timings and parking incentives aim to ease travel to and from these areas.
