Ferrari, the renowned Italian automaker, has taken a unique step by announcing the production of the last LaFerrari. This remarkable vehicle will be auctioned to support individuals affected by the recent earthquake in Italy.
Statement from the CEO
Sergio Marchionne, the President and CEO of Ferrari, stated: "This LaFerrari will increase our production from 499 units to 500 units, with the final car being auctioned to help those impacted by the earthquake."
Impact of the Earthquake
Statistics indicate that the earthquake that struck Italy last week resulted in thousands of injuries, destruction across several towns, and over 240 fatalities, particularly in mountainous regions including Amatrice, Accumoli, and Pescara del Tronto.
Ferrari's History of Production Increases
In an unprecedented move, this is not the first time Ferrari has increased its production numbers. The company previously created the Enzo as a tribute to Pope John Paul II, which was subsequently sold to an American car collector for $6.05 million (22,222,550 AED), making it the most expensive Enzo ever sold.
