Volvo S60 Polestar Concept - Performance and Luxury Redefined

Volvo, the Swedish automobile manufacturer, has been a pioneer in technology such as dual-stage airbags and blind spot monitoring systems. With the help of its official motorsport and performance partner Polestar, they celebrate another victory: pioneering the most exciting concept car in a long time.
One out of just four S60 Polestar Concept Cars in the world made its way to the Dubai Autodrome, and we were invited to view and take a spin in it. Although the S60 Polestar doesn't look very different from the basic S60, it is on the performance front where they feel like two very different cars.
Drive Performance
The S60 Polestar Concept Car is fitted with a Volvo 3.0-litre T6 inline six engine that has been tuned to churn out a whopping 508 horsepower and 575 Nm of torque. From a standstill, it will propel you to 100 km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds and boasts a top speed of over 300 km/h. To handle these phenomenal speeds, the S60 Polestar Concept is fitted with:
- Polestar - Brembo ventilated disks up front
- Polestar - Volvo ventilated disks on the rear
In comparison to the basic S60, the Polestar Concept receives:
- Modified cylinder heads
- Combustion chambers
- Inlet manifold
- Air intake
- A roaring Ferrita 3.5" stainless steel dual exhaust system
In terms of the drivetrain, a Haldex limited slip differential, four-wheel drive system, and a close ratio 6-speed manual are just a few components that add up to make the S60 Polestar Concept an absolute beast! Check out the lap clip we captured:
Interior
As for the interior, it still boasts all the regular high-end bells and whistles you’d expect to find in a Volvo. There was a great similarity between the dashboard of the S60 Polestar Concept and the V40 R-Design that we had tested earlier. The S60 Polestar Concept comes fitted with alcantara on the steering wheel, gear knob, and seats to ensure maximum grip at all times.
Verdict
All in all, I agree with Polestar racing driver Robert Dahlgren, who is of the opinion that the S60 Polestar Concept is "by far, the most impressive street Volvo I've ever driven." However, I must also say that the genuine Volvo feeling is still there. I hope there is a massive drop in the price once it's mass-produced since currently at AED 1,200,000, it isn't exactly... affordable.
