Ford Shines at the 2019 Middle East Car of the Year Awards
The Ford Mustang GT, F-150, Expedition, and Tourneo Custom achieved top honors at the Middle East Car of the Year (MECOTY) awards held in Abu Dhabi last night.
Award Details
Three of Ford's iconic vehicles, which have been in production for over 50 years, were recognized in the following categories:
- Mustang: Best High-Performance Coupe of the Year, celebrating its 55th anniversary.
- F-150: Truck of the Year, reigning as the best-selling truck in the United States for 42 years.
- Ford Transit Tourneo: Best Multi-Purpose Vehicle of the Year, stemming from the Ford Transit produced since 1965.
- Ford Expedition: Best Full-Size SUV of 2019, produced for 23 years.
Significance of the Awards
Now in its sixth year, the Middle East Car of the Year award is the most recognized in the automotive sector across the region. The awards involve the expertise of 19 automotive journalists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Levant, who participate in various stages of selection and scoring to arrive at the winners list.
