Introduction to Global EVRT
Global EVRT (Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip) is a global initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption and integration of electric vehicles within smart communities that rely on sustainable energy sources. To make the event even more exciting, EVRT will host a drag race between electric cars and traditional petrol vehicles at the racetrack in Ras Al Khaimah, featuring drag racing champion Doug Herbert leading the challenge against the EVRT team.
Journey Details
The electric vehicle journey kicks off on the 18th of this month, covering a distance of 1,217 km. The route will take participants from Abu Dhabi through breathtaking landscapes, stunning mountain roads, and picturesque coastal views of Oman and the northern Emirates, before returning to Dubai on January 26th. Individuals are encouraged to join the caravan as it passes through their areas for a chance to test drive electric vehicles and learn about the financial benefits of owning one.
Drag Race Challenges
After ascending Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, the cars will recharge their batteries on the way back down. The remaining energy will be utilized in the drag race, showcasing the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology, including:
- Chevrolet Bolt EV, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds.
- Tesla Model S P100D, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.7 seconds.
Charging Stations
A network of 18 permanent charging stations will be established throughout the EVRT journey, ensuring that participating electric vehicles in the EVRT Middle East 2018 event can recharge effectively.
