Guillaume Cartier's Appointment

Nissan has appointed Guillaume Cartier as Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Africa, Middle East, and India region, as well as the head of the global Datsun business, effective April 1, 2020.

Responsibilities of Cartier

In his new role, Cartier will lead the regional management committee, where he will be responsible for business strategy and performance alongside all Nissan brand heads. He will also serve as the global head of Datsun.

Previous Experience of Cartier

The 51-year-old Cartier returns to Nissan from Mitsubishi, a partner in the alliance, where he held the position of Executive Vice President. Prior to that, he held several senior positions at Nissan, which he first joined in 1995, including:

  • Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Nissan Europe in 2013.

Cartier boasts over 25 years of experience with Nissan and Mitsubishi, having undertaken various roles that encompass:

  • Global and regional operations.
  • Marketing and sales.
  • Business transformation.

Commenting on Cartier's appointment, Ashwani Gupta, Global CEO of Nissan, stated:

Education and Background

Cartier holds an MBA from ESSEC Business School and succeeds Peyman Kargar, who played a strategic role at Nissan after three years as head of the Africa, Middle East, and India region and global head of Datsun.
