Chinese automaker Hongqi has been carving a niche out for itself in the Middle Eastern automotive space and its most recent statement comes in the form of the H9, a flagship luxury sedan. Launched at the brand’s showroom in Dubai, the event was attended by customers, staff, and members of the press, allowing them all to experience the vehicle and all that it offers firsthand.
Targeting the best of the best, the Hongqi H9 flaunts a captivating design with tech and features that can rival industry leaders. The design exudes presence with bold use of chrome and an eye-catching two-tone color scheme on certain variants. The honorable “Red Flag” illuminates a thin strip along with the hood and grille, in addition to the fenders.
Inside, the luxury is taken to new heights with a minimalistic design and supple leather covering nearly everything. Two large digital screens form the instrument cluster and infotainment screen respectively, with chrome piping, piano black, and wood trims embellishing the dashboard, center console, and door panels.
In addition to 7 exterior color options and 4 interior color options, the Hongqi H9 is armed with air suspension, a panoramic sunroof, a 4-zone climate control system, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a PM 2.5 AC filter, automated parking, heads-up display, Wi-Fi connectivity, and over the air updates, in addition to safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and 360-degree cameras.
Powering the H9 is a choice of two engines: a turbocharged 2.0-liter or a supercharged 3.0-liter. While the smaller of the two produces 248 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, the larger V6 powerplant puts out 279 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. A few variants of the luxury sedan also come equipped with a 48V energy recycling system.
Prices for the Hongqi H9 in UAE stand at AED 229,900 for the 2.0-liter Exalted Edition; AED 269,00 for the 3.0-liter Flagship Edition, and AED 309,900 for the 3.0-liter Flagship 4-seat Edition.
